thanks.

She'll be getting some fenders soon, (as soon as i can find everything i need for a reasonable price) and I plan on dropping it a bit more in the front to give it a nice rake. because its a Super Beetle, i cant really slam it with out major mods and major $$$.

lol the wheels came with the car. powder coated safety orange! they are actually BRIGHTER than construction cones haha.  I personally LOVE the rear wheels, they are 12'' wide and wrapped in Kumo's! (the wheels are pretty much worth what i paid for the whole car!

I am looking to do something a little different with it, as this is pretty much what it looked like when i got it. I cleaned it up and did alot of maintenance;

new clutch, short sifter, carb, starter, fuel pump, dist cap, plugs and wires oh, and rear adjustable coil overs
when i got it there was NO rear suspension,  and it was only running on two cyl. she is now my daily driver. runs great, starts every time, and rides smooth thanks to the coil overs.

I plan on taking a few shots with my good camera but its a 35mm so it might take me a while to get them up...... unless someone wants to do a photo shoot with me lol

So here are the events of the past two days on the beetle. (I should preface this with saying that the previous owner really messed up the wiring on this thing)

So i went to pep boys to get a new air filter yesterday.... I go to leave, turn the key and nothing.... no lights, no radio, NOTHING. so I start thinking that my battery died some how in the last 5 min, untill I see smoke billowing out of the engine bay.

Turns out that a poorly spliced wire shorted to the block, and all of the wires in the engine bay melted to the point of ALMOST bursting into flames. So I rewire the motor in the parking lot, and drive home with no brake lights (those wires melted too)

I got up early today and re did the whole back end of the wire harness. got it running good and not on fire! Drove over to my buddy Dan's house and lowered the front about an 1 1/2''

Started driving home and the transmission COMPLETELY crapped out on me. I have a new trans being delivered as i type right now, so i hope to have it back on the road my monday.

anyway, a couple of before and after shots-

i actually just cut the springs. my struts are blown though, so it would have been easier to just take the springs off. if i can find some sorter struts that might work, ill try it. for right now, its low and rough, but i would like it to be low and smooth.

until i can find a storter strut from another application that might work, this is as low as a super will go (unless you bag it)

Welcome to the forum! Depending on your wallet, you can go with drop coils or coilovers and dial-in the height you're looking for. If you flip the tie rods, you can get even lower without having to do any notching.

Here's a good thread about the topic: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3526270

Thanks for the link superguy, I will be ordering the ''Super Low'' kit soon

update, the Super is back on the road, after a week under the knife. She's got a new trans, new axles, new brakes (i found it funny that when i pulled off the original brake DRUMS, they had "BREMBO" stamped on the inside, HAHA)

yeah, the beetle was a cool ride, and a real head turner. But I am a muscle car type of guy, and i was tired of being passed by stock civics!!! haha, that and she wasn't very safe, you know, not having a fame and all.
So I went a picked up my new toy this weekend, 1985 Camaro Z28! I'll have pictures up here soon.
Hopefully, this summer the Camaro will be getting an LS1/ 6 speed conversion straight out of a wrecked Corvette

yeah, gotta see that.

my bro Ric (Kidds Toy here) has a 3rd gen that he will not sell even though he has left for panama and prolly wont come back. he had a 86 vert in his back yard that had quite the history (no verts made in 86). if he wasn't driving to panama he might join in and explain. if i didn't get the year right, well Ric can (maybe).
